Eric Yager

Eric P. Yager, age 39, of Cassville, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on June 23, 1976, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Larry Yager and Christine Russell. Eric attended Cassville High School and Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore where he earned a CNC certificate. He worked various jobs throughout his life. Eric enjoyed 4-wheeling, hunting, fishing, farming, and logging. He had a passion for Chevy Vega cars and dearly loved spending time with his family, especially his sons.

Eric will be missed by his fianc, Kortney Hellum; his sons: Hunter, William and Brody Yager; his mother, Christine (Ken Nehls) Russell; his father, Larry (Nancy Klossing) Yager; his brother, Jeremy (Lynn) Yager and goddaughter, Ayva; his best friends and cousins, Derick (Kathy) Pohle; Shawn (Lori) Mumm, who is also Brody's godfather; Kortney's parents: Deanne (Ron) Schmidt and Roger (Karen) Hellum; Hunter and William's half-sister, Brittany Wiederholt; other relatives and friends.

Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Lloyd and Stella Yager; maternal grandparents: Charles and Jackie Russell; his uncles: Bill Russell and Dave Yager; and his aunt, Helen Mumm.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville with Pastor David Froemming officiating. Burial was in Burton Cemetery, Burton. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Eric P. Yager Memorial Fund has been established.

Goldie M. Yager

Goldie M. Yager, age 82, of Beetown, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at her home. She was born on February 27, 1930, in Cassville, the daughter of Glen and Margaret (Kelly) Vesperman. On February 23, 1949, Goldie was united in marriage to Robert Boots Yager at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, the couple farmed. Together they enjoyed motorcycle rides and going to dances. Boots preceded Goldie in death in 1997. Goldie was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and enjoyed picking walnuts and raspberries. She also enjoyed listening to her scanners and working on the farm. Goldie loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children: Tom (Brenda) Yager, Portage; Donna (Rick) Atkinson, Cuba City; two grandchildren: Ashley and Michael Yager; a grand-puppy, Shelby; a sister, Dorothy (Monroe) Haas, Bloomington; a half-sister, Hila Johnson, Sarasota, FL; a brother-in-law, Larry (Marilyn) Ellis, Potosi; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Goldie was preceded in death by a son, Steven Yager on May 22, 1983; a brother, Maynard Vesperman; a sister, Darlene Ellis; a half-sister, Hazel Schmitz, and a half-brother, Delbert Vesperman.

Funeral services were held on Friday, September 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Bill Manthe officiating. Burial was in Beetown Cemetery, Beetown. Family and friends called on Thursday, September 27, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.

Thomas A. Yocum

Thomas A Yocum, age 78, passed away at home on Thursday, March 28, 2013 from lung cancer.

Tom was born on February 25, 1935, to Fred and Catherine Yocum in Chicago, Illinois. He was a graduate of Cassville High School and served in the U.S. Army until the passing of his father, when he returned to Cassville to help oversee the family business, Rapid Die and Molding Company. As a young man, Tom enjoyed swimming and diving. He also had a passion for driving fast cars and piloting airplanes. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards, and cherished his friendships. His joy was in helping others when he could.

Tom was preceded in death by his two brothers, Fred and Robert and is survived by three nieces, four nephews and fourteen great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate his life was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at River Valley Community Church Fellowship Hall located at 1035 Jack Oak Road in Cassville. Following a brief service, please stay for fellowship, stories and desserts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given in Toms memory to the Cassville Rescue Squad or Grant County Hospice. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville is assisting the family.

Genelda M. Yoose

Genelda Mae Yoose, age 86, of Potosi, took the journey to Heaven with Jesus on the evening of Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was born on May 27, 1928, in Lancaster, the daughter of Carl and Genevieve (Keene) Irish. Genelda attended Boice Creek Grade School and Lancaster High School. In 1945, she married Calvin Paul Yoose at the Lancaster Presbyterian Church, where she was baptized, confirmed, taught Sunday school, served as Deacon, and was a lifelong active member. Genelda was also a member of the Eastern Star, thirty-two years as a Superintendent at the Grant County Fair, sold Avon for many years, was a 4-H leader, and farmed with her husband and her family all her life. Her favorite things to do in her life was being with her family, gardening, baking, cooking, quilting, and painting. Genelda was well known for her gift of cooking and making sure no one went away hungry. She could make up a full meal in a snap and it was always great. She made many awesome quilts and had a gift of painting beautiful pictures.

In addition to her parents, Genelda was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Yoose, a brother, Lloyd, and a grandson, Cody Yoose.

Survivors include her five children: Steve (Carol) Yoose; Sharon (Dale) Bontreger; Betty (Roger) Allbee; William Bill Yoose, Sandy (Todd) Ehlen; fourteen grandchildren: Cindy, Becky, John, Danny (Kari) Yoose, Amy (Eric) Giese, Tamie (Craig Pash) Patcle, Kimberly (Andrew) Marinelli, Stacy (Jason) Wehausen, Sheila Allbee, Sheena (Al) Reynolds, Ryan (Whitney) Allbee, Cari Ehlen, April (R.J.) Osterhaus, Trevor Ehlen, many several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Katie) Irish; and a brother-in-law, Ivan Yoose.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Hurricane Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Ivan D. Yoose

Ivan D. Yoose, age 86, of Potosi, died Saturday, January 31, 2015, at the Lancaster Care Center. Ivan was born on March 21, 1928 in Waterloo Township, WI, a son of Andrew & Cora Ann (Loetscher) Yoose.

Ivan married June Marie Williams on November 14, 1945 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. They farmed their entire lives in Grant County. Ivan was a member of the Lancaster First Presbyterian Church, and the F & A M Warren Lodge #4 in Potosi. He enjoyed polka music, making wine, and loved attending family gatherings.

Ivan is survived by three sons, Andrew "Chuck" (Janis) of Lancaster, Dennis, and Harold "Hoop", both of Potosi; his special friend, Eileen Walton of Potosi; eight grandchildren, David, Curt, Rick, Autumn, Cora, Matthew, Jennifer, & Shelley; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Tom (Donna) Williams of West Bend; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June in 1996; a son, Arthur Curtis in 1969; his parents; two brothers, Harold and Calvin; and three sisters, Elizabeth, Linda, and Charlotte.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the Lancaster First Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Hurricane Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, where a 7:00 p.m. Masonic Service was held. Friends also called one hour prior to the services Thursday at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.

Mathilda "Sis" J. Yunk

Mathilda Sis Josephine Yunk, age 86, of Cassville, died on Monday, May 7, 2012, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster surrounded by her family. She was born on September 24, 1925, in Bloomington, the daughter of Peter and Eleanora (Crubel) Moris. Sis grew up on the family farm and attended school at St. Marys Catholic School in Bloomington. On February 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to Gerald Yunk at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington. After their marriage, the couple farmed for many years in the Cassville area. In 2003, Sis moved to town from the farm. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and the CCW. Sis loved to play cards, especially Rummy, 500, Euchre, and Poker. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, collecting decorative glass bowls and yodeling. Sis especially loved her summer girl trips that have been an annual event since 1993. She had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her five children: Phyllis (Gary) Breuer, Waukesha; Dianne Annie Hunt, Madison; Janet Jan (Terry) Gulmire, Cottage Grove; Elaine (Tom) Gehde, Cassville; Gary (Victoria) Yunk, Cassville; nine grandchildren: Corey (Heather) Breuer, Jill Panther, Gina Breuer, Kevin (Karen) Hunt, Chad (Marie) Hunt, Christine (Nate Ivanowski) Stoikes, Tina (Mark) Whalen, Carrie Wunderlin, and Sara (Robert) Rioldi; eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way; five step-grandchildren: Ben (Lindsay) Gehde, Clint (Jessica) Gehde, Tracy (Bob) Kubitz, Travis (Desiree) Ploessl, and Todd (Tricia) Ploessl, eleven step-great grandchildren; two sisters: Clara Mumm and Eleanor Mumm, both of Cassville; sisters-in-law: Carol Moris, Bloomington; Alma Moris, Mt. Hope; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Sis was preceded in death by her siblings: Ed Moris, John Moris, Jim Moris and Peter Moris; brothers-in-law, Loren Mumm and Walter Mumm, sisters-in-law, Agnes Moris and Mildred Moris, and a grandson-in-law, Phillip Panther.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Thursday, May 10, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, where a 4:00 p.m. scripture service was held. Dolores Zenz

Dolores H. Zenz, age 91, passed away November 19, 2014, at the home of her son, Kelly, in Kingston, WA. She was born April 21, 1923, the daughter of John Jack and Edith (Kellogg) Edwards. Dolores graduated salutatorian from Mount Hope High School and attended college in Madison. She enlisted in the United States Army Womens Air Corp where she was a court reporter. Dolores married William Bill Zenz on October 4, 1947. She was a member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church and the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148. Dolores enjoyed going to their cabin in Hatfield and playing cards with family and friends.

Survivors include two sons: Scott (Ann) and Kelly (Holly) Zenz; seven grandchildren: Kora, John Jack (April), Joseph, Noah, Allie, Emily and Lindsey Zenz; six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her son, Richard.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington United Methodist Church with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with military honors was in the Bloomington Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Dorothy Zenz

Dorothy Darlene Zenz, age 78, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born December 16, 1933 the daughter of LeRoy and Mabel (Vangasbeck) Ritter. Dorothy attended Ellenboro rural school. She married Norbert J. Norb Zenz on July 19, 1952 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.

She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. Dorothy provided day care for many years, and cared for many in the community. She was best known for her baking, cooking and crafting. Dorothy enjoyed plants, flowers and birds, but she will be remembered fondly for her love and devotion to her family.

Surviving are her children; Sharon Blindert, Rita (Roger) Dean, Donna (Bruce) Kruser, and Ron (Lori) Zenz, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one on the way, a sister, Shirley Bausch; two brothers Donald (Ann) and Darrell (Laura) Ritter, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norbert, an infant daughter Rose Emily, an infant grandson Nathan Kruser, a sister Doris ( Robert Bob) Grenzow, and two brothers, Dale and Delbert Ritter, and a brother in law, Fred Sonny Bausch.

Funeral services were held on Friday November 16, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Tennyson, with Fr. Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in the St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends called on Friday November 16, 2012 from 9:00am until time of services at the church. A Dorothy Zenz Memorial fund has been established. Eunice M. Zenz

Eunice M. Zenz, age 74, of Parks, Arkansas, formerly of Lancaster, passed from this life June 16, 2011 at her home. She was born on December 1, 1936, in Hazel Green, the daughter of Joseph and Helen Timmerman. After graduating from St. Clara Academy in Sinsinawa, WI, she married Larry Zenz on October 15, 1955, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hazel Green. Together they operated the family farm, Zenz Welding and Manufacturing, and raised seven children. Eunice enjoyed playing bridge, traveling the world with Larry, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion left an indelible mark on both her family and many friends.

Surviving are her husband, Larry and their seven children; Julie Zenz of Lancaster,WI, Jane (Dr. Michael) Karleskint of Sherman, TX, Jim (Linda) Zenz of De Kalb, IL, Joyce (Matt) Link of Black Earth, WI, Jean (Jonathan) Ackerman of North Granby, CT, Joe (Shari) Zenz of Lancaster, WI, and Jennifer (Bryce) Bellinder of Prairie du Sac, WI; 16 grandchildren; four brothers and a sister, Bob Timmerman, Jim (Alice) Timmerman, Dick (Judy) Timmerman, Ellen (Herb) Westemeier, Dan (Karen) Timmerman, one sister-in-law Ann (Warren) Zeigle, and brother-in-law Ben Koeller, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters-in-law, Rosemary Koeller and Ann Timmerman.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, July 8, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp, Father Bart Timmerman and Father John Meinholz officiating. Florence I. Zenz

Florence I. Zenz, age 68, of Lancaster, died Friday, January 11, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. She was born on November 3, 1939 in Eastman, WI; the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Maas) Muntz. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1957. After high school, Florence made Mass bread at St. Dominic Villa in Dubuque. She married Anthony Zenz on July 31, 1976 in Dubuque and together they farmed in the Lancaster area. Florence enjoyed watching the Cubs and the Bears; loved cooking, canning, and crocheting; and collected Cubs memorabilia and elephants. She always enjoyed taking care of kids and dearly loved her grandchildren. She attended all her grandchildrens games and school activities.

She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Muntz, Guttenberg, IA; seven stepchildren: Diane (Mike) Audetat, Debra (Daniel) McPhail, and James (Robin) Zenz, all of Lancaster; Jerry (Becki) Zenz, North Fond du Lac; and John Zenz, Paul (Susan) Zenz, and Michael (Jeanne) Zenz, all of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren; her brothers and sisters: Margie (Lyle) Smith, Durango, IA; Frank (Nellie) Muntz, Englewood, FL; Joan Nauman, Dubuque, IA; Dan (Rose) Muntz, Sedalia, MO; Betty (Ron ) Gile, Dubuque, IA; and Joe (Betty) Muntz, Guttenberg, IA; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Joel (Renee) Vesperman and their children, Jared, Jade, and Jena, all of Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony, on September 28, 2005; her father; her brother, Jake Muntz; and her nephew, Billy Muntz.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father John Norder officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Visitation was held on Monday, January 14, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Jerome Zenz

Jerome F. "Jerry" Zenz, age 76, of Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on May 6, 1938, the son of Alfonso "Jack" and Marguerite (Patcle) Zenz. Jerry graduated from Bloomington High School in 1956. He entered into the United States Army Reserves from 1956 until 1957. Upon his return, Jerry started farming in Little Grant Township. He married Mary M. Menne on June 2, 1964, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. Jerry enjoyed being outdoors and hunting. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Knights of Columbus. Jerry was also a member of the West Grant Lions Club. He loved spending time with his family and keeping up with his grandchildrens activities.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Frank (Kristin) Zenz; a daughter, Ann Zenz; two grandchildren: Mikaela and Austin Zenz; two sisters: Mary Anne (Richard) Hoffman and Betty Lou Fehlberg; members of the Menne family; many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 2, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Family and friends called on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Friday. Francis Zimmer

Francis Charles Zimmer, age 79, of Glen Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2016, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home with his family by his side. He was born on September 15, 1936, in Lancaster, the son of Lawrence J. and Mildred F. (Dolphin) Zimmer. After his mother Mildred died, Lawrence married Myrl Dolphin (Mildred's sister) and together Lawrence and Myrl raised the children. On February 12, 1958, Francis was united in marriage to Lillian I. Kienzler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fennimore. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Glen Haven area. Francis was a member of St. Mary's Help of Christians Church in Glen Haven, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Knights, volunteered for 44 years with the Glen Haven Fire Department, and served on the Bloomington School Board for several years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Lillian Zimmer; their children: Larry (Marti) Zimmer, Glen Haven; Anna (Joe) Kusilek, Baldwin; Margaret (Robert) Wickenhauser, Cologne, MN; Gerard (Theresa) Zimmer, Glen Haven; Teresa R. Zimmer, Monroe; Amy (Neal) Moore, Lone Rock; Mike Zimmer, Cassville. Francis enjoyed his role of Grandfather to 23 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two more soon to be born. Francis is further survived by his sisters: Jeanette (John) Sherman, Bloomington; Norma (John) Ward, Greendale; brother-in-law, Jim Deneen, Madison; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by his second mother, Myrl Zimmer; and a sister, Elizabeth "Betsy" Deneen.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Help of Christians Church in Glen Haven with Father John Meinholz and Father Tom Kelley officiating and Deacon Paul Zenefski assisting. Burial with volunteer fireman's memorial honor guard was in Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven. Family and friends called on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Help of Christians Church in Glen Haven where a Knights of Columbus Rosary was prayed at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends also called on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Francis C. Zimmer Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bloomington is assisting the family.
